Accessibility statement
Caramink is committed to making caramink.com usable for everyone, regardless of ability or assistive technology. This statement explains where we are, what we are working on, and how to reach us if something is in your way.
Standards we target
We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance across the public site (storefront, services, journal, account). The admin dashboard is an internal tool and is not held to the same target, though we apply the same principles.
What works today
- Semantic HTML structure across all storefront pages
- Keyboard navigation through the main flows (browse → product → cart → checkout)
- Visible focus states on interactive elements
- Sufficient colour contrast in body text (4.5:1) and UI labels (3:1)
- Form labels associated with their inputs; required fields marked
- Alt text on uploaded photography (we are catching up on older images)
- Page titles describe the page, not just "Caramink"
- Scroll behaviour resets on route change so screen-reader users land at the top of new pages
- Reduced-motion: scroll animations and the hero carousel honour

What we are working on
- Full alt text audit on the journal photography and admin-uploaded service galleries
- Skip-to-content link in the navbar
- ARIA live-region announcements for cart updates and toast notifications
- Improved colour contrast on the ink-on-ochre announcement bar
- Captions on any video we add to the journal in future
What we cannot guarantee
- Third-party widgets (the Paystack checkout iframe, the Supabase auth UI shells when configured): we audit them but ultimately Paystack and Supabase own the accessibility of those surfaces.
- User-generated content: customer reviews and uploaded photos may not always have descriptive alt text. Where we control the upload (admin product/service photos), we add it.

- The page URL where the problem happened
- What you were trying to do
- The browser / device / assistive tech you were using (screen reader, switch, magnifier, etc.)
We aim to acknowledge within 2 working days and have a fix in flight within 10 working days for blocking issues. For non-blocking ones we batch into the next sprint and tell you when it ships.
